Coolah Tip

The Coolah Tip through poor use is under threat of closure. Some people are still dumping unsorted bags of rubbish in the bins. This causing an increase in waste removal costing rate payers more money than the council budgeted. A budget blow out could cause drastic changes to having local facilities in Coolah.

The CoolART Sub a committee of the Coolah District Development Group has adopted the concept of ‘Waste to Art' Net waste Project for 2009 for Coolah Tip.

The Net Waste to Art a project would be to clean up Coolah own backyard and educate the community to proper use of the tip and have fun doing it.

The Net Waste to Art initiative could be an opportunity to ignite interest and awareness amongst the community to encourage recycling and the responsibility of refuse.

Approx. 10 individuals/ group or organisation will be needed to undertake creating one art piece to represent the designated drop off zone at the tip.

Ie; Recycle drop off zone.

Sign made from lids

Bottle bank made from bottles

Can man made from recycled cans etc Animal sculpture made of fencing mesh animal or corrugated cow using wire, steel or tin to highlight the drop off zone.

The CDDG have met with the Warrumbungle Shire to work together to create ownership of the tip and to improve in appearance and ease of access.

Eleanor Cook excited by the propects of the whole community getting involved in this project said " Anyone interested in becoming in volved to either make something creative or help clean up the tip please don't hesitate to call on 63774644. If all goes according to plan there will be a grand opening and exhibition in March 2009of our tip with the art pieces made from recycled art."
