Coolah and District Historical Society

Established 31st October 2009

Mainstreet

Public meeting convened for the purpose of establishing a local history group, held at the Warrumbungle Shire Council meeting room (former Coolah Shire Council Chambers) 59 Binnia Street Coolah; 10:00am Saturday 31st October 2009.

Jennie Stephens, Chair for the opening of proceedings began by calling upon Roy Cameron to present the items listed for discussion in the Society Proposal. Roy briefly outlined the importance of each of the items and the areas for immediate focus should we succeed in forming a Society. Ted Miller & Ernie Fetch commented that an area for focus should be the Township of Coolah with interviews of our elderly long term residents being of paramount importance.

Roy Cameron called upon John Horne, President of the Dunedoo and District Historical Society to address our meeting. John spoke of how the Dunedoo Society was formed and how he believed that the volunteers who regularly give their time are the backbone of the organization and how the encouragement of younger people with an understanding of new computer related methods (things historical) be a constant priority.

Roy Cameron then made a recommendation that a Coolah and District Historical Society be formed. This was seconded Mark Powell and the recommendation carried.

Following are some suggest goals of the Society
